Name this movie....

I'm in my room watching this movie by myself and wishing I was with my family as I watch this classic! Who can name the movie from this quote??

"If she liked me any more, she'd sic the dogs on me."

Anchors Aweigh, my boys, Anchors Aweigh

First and Foremost- Happy Veterans Day to everyone!! Thanks to all those who have served and are serving and their FAMILIES!!!

Now on to business. We (my kids and I) were talking about Veterans Day as I was cooking dinner and I was asking them if they knew what it meant. We talked about how it was a day to honor all those who have served and are serving for our country. I asked them who they knew that was in the military and they both answered "Uncle Jason". I said "You are right". I then asked them if they knew what Uncle Jason does for the Navy. Here comes the good part...Kel said "Mom I know what he does. When a solider gets shot in the teeth Uncle Jason fixes their teeth for them." Now trying to hold my composure I said "and you know cleans their teeth, fixes cavities. Things like that". Kel said (while holding his hand in a gun up to his teeth) "Yay and when they get shot in the teeth too!" "Ok Kelly! Yes and when they get shot in the teeth."
Uncle Jason has the coolest job!!!

Love you all!!!

Quote of the day

Tonight the kids wanted to sleep together. Since it is not a school night we let them. They have been "trying" to go to sleep for 45 mins when Kelly came in the living room to tell us Madi was not letting him put his feet where he needed to. Then comes Madi trying to defend herself. Then comes the good part. Kelly said "Dad! Madi is listening to the devil!" (Mark and I are trying not to laugh because he was so serious!) "She was going to scratch me. She's listening to the devil!" Madi then replied "I AM NOT listening to the devil!"
Bedtime converstions here at the Stancell's house are priceless!!

Love you both!!!

Thank you from the other side of the world...at least it feels that way.

Sweet Sisters,

Rarely am I at a loss for words but I don't even really think I can convey how much your visit meant to me.  I didn't realize how much I just needed to be with family.  It was more than special to spend such quality time with the two of you.  Thank you loving on my babies.  It was special to see and also a nice relief.  Thank you for listening to me talk and talk...and rant a little.  Thank you both for just being the wonderful women that you are...I miss you both so much and can hardly wait to see at Christmas.

My worlds are about to collide...

2 weeks and a couple of days and you are here...I am so excited I can hardly handle myself.  Also, it is my birthday week...we finally have some cooler temps here in NC...so who cares that I have 3 gaping holes in my ceiling?!  That's not going to bring me down.

I'd post a pic but I'm on the wrong computer.

Keepin it real

So last night J and I went to an event.  It was fun.  I saw a familiar face and she introduced me to her neighbor.  This is how it goes in a transitional world.  I find out that the neighbor has 4 kids and so I ask..."do you know of any good babysitters on base?"  She looks at me and says, "Yes."  That's it.  No more.  No....let me get a name for you.  Oh, I have a great one.  It was like, "Yes, and if you ever call her, I will come and cut you."  The funniest thing that happened last night.

I'm back...

I am so happy to say that after much waiting...We now have internet and cable at our house.  This means that Liam can once again feed his addiction to PBS and I can feed my addiction to Facebook.  Ahhh...I feel like I might just be able to make this little place a home now...and I'm not even kidding.

Missing you oh so much!  Who wants to SKYPE?!

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Dear North Carolina Cable People,

It was easy to be sisters back then.... we lived in the same house and you all had to talk to me.
Now we live in different cities, different states, and when one of us doesn't have internet, it makes it very difficult.

Dear Cable people in North Carolina,
Do you know what it means to be 22 hours away from your sister? Do you what it feels like to not see the faces of your sweet niece and nephew from almost a month? No, I don't think you do or you would have already hooked up her internet. You would have taken pity on my sweet sister, who is living on a navel base, and just needs to read about important things like... The Pioneer Woman, all happenings on facebook, and blog stalking. I am not your number 1 fan North Carolina cable people and I expect to receive a "I'm Sorry" note from you for making my sisters and I feel more separated than we already are.
Praying for you Soul,
Amy K.

*** OK its a big dramatic...... What is the point of having skype if we can't use it***

I came back from Honduras with.....

A nasty rash.... ON MY FACE. hahhahahah

It is so embarrassing. I have lived on benadryl and the second I think its getting better, it flares up. Ummmm, gross.

Any home remedies???

Oh and I also cut my eye lashes with my eye lash curler. I know, why was I curling my eye lashes in Honduras..... well I was and it is just something we are all going to have to live with. I love eye lash curlers.

I had a great time and promise to post pictures soon!

Kasey- Hope the b.day party went well.
Tara- Let me know when you want to skype but please don't scream when you see my face.

First Day of School

Today was our first day of school. Kelly and Madi were so excited!!

Kelly was up and dressed by 7:15. Madi in her special sweet way took a little longer to be ready but no less excited than Kelly. She had her backpack, her new shoes with socks in her backpack for PE, lunch box and nap mat. I look her up and down and realize as she is about to walk out the door that she has no shoes on. Now I know that I have asked her multiple times to get her flip flops on and even told her which ones to wear. So our first crisis of the year, Madi can't find any flip flops even though I know they are all on the back of her door. Anyway, here they are first day of school pictures:

Where did all the time go?? I am so ready to pick them up!!

The case of the missing sippy cups

So one of the nice things about living a simple life is that you know just about everything you have or don't have.  For instance, I bought 4 sippy cups to get us through until we get into our permanent house.  Our temporary house consists of a pack-n-play, 2 air up twin mattresses for Liam, 2 air up queen size mattresses for Jason and I, a bag of toys, clothes, toiletries, a variety of disposable plates, forks, etc. and 4 sippy cups...sooo how is it that we have lost 2 sippy cups.  And I know...I just KNOW that they have milk in them somewhere.  Off to search for 2 disgusting sippy cups.

Glad that first is done!!

Today after church Kelly was playing outside behind the church building as usual. I was ready to go so I called his name and he answered. I was just waiting on him when Sarah said it's Kelly. I look up to see a child lying on the ground next to a big tree so as any mom would I ran. Now I really don't run, and all I could think of was this girl doesn't run. Anyway I by the time I get to him Sarah is tryin to get him up. He was tryin hard not to cry but it hurt and he couldn't or wouldn't put any weight on his right leg. I though please isn't be broken we don't have insurance! LOL. He was ok just a little shaken. Turns out he fell about 8 to 10 feet out of he tree. I am so thankful that he only has some scratches on his side. I'm so glad that we made it through our first tree fall and hope we don't have a repeat performance, wishful thinking I know. Lesson learned we don't climb trees with cowboy boots on and I can run when the need arises!

Are you pregnant?

First, Kasey, I am so sad that we weren't there.  Liam asked if we could go to the party and then he asked if we could go to your house today for Kelly's birthday.  THAT is breaking my heart.  Most days, I simply pretend that you all are just a few minutes away.  It is when Liam asks to see you that it dawns on me that you are states away...ehhh (thank you Debbie Downer)...

On to my own social awkwardness...Totally asked a wife yesterday when she was due....ummm...yeah...not pregnant!!!  I was totally mortified.  She was precious and sweet and has three kids.  Her husband is a dentist.  She has been here 3 years.  I want her to be my friend...and so I commit the most heinous of social crimes.  I'm ashamed and embarrassed.  Nicely done...is all that I can say.

Kasey, I know that you have already heard this story but it bears repeating.

It was just weird!!

We had the kids Birthday party last night and it was great. I mean as great as any party can be with 2 birthday kids and 200 kids. Ok not 200 bit it was a lot of kids! But it was so weird to have it without most of my family. Especially the ones who help me aka my sisters! It was just weird. Mom said it best "it's just not the same without your sisters is it". I felt like that might have been the understatement of the day.

Please know you were both missed greatly!
Love you both!

I am out.

So I leave tomorrow for Honduras and here is what I have to say about that...

1. I bought new underwear, so if they plane goes down and you need to identify me, I am wearing hot pink briefs.

2. I got my eye brows waxed, this has nothing to do with Honduras but I haven't touched them since April.

3. Kasey and I went shopping for books for me to take..... Do you feel bad for taking books that aren't of a religious nature on a mission trip? We decided any book that had romantic weekend, sexy, bachelor, or devil on the cover should not be taken. Ohhh and Kendra Wilkerson's book was not allowed either.

4. I am already packed.... impressed??? You should be.

5. I will not have internet for a week..... That means that you have to post!!! I know you have stories to tell.... you're mothers.... your life is a made for TV movie waiting to happen. And in the movie I better not be portrayed as the loner sister, who is has serious dating problems (which is true). Oh gosh, I am going to be portrayed as Kiki. Shoot me now.

LOVE YOU MORE!

More from No.2

**Tipton--It is so much of who we are...and the first place I shot a gun...one of the first times I really began to understand about roots.

**Sulphur--I just remember always having so much fun there with our family.

Moving Week- comments by #3

Deam's Bean Scene- How many hours did we spend there in High School? I loved $1.25 bottomless tea and  $1.00 cinnamon toast. I have never found a coffee shop as cool as Deam's.

Burnt Cabin- Best summers of my life were spent there, with some of my favorite people.

Discovery Land- Who doesn't like watching Oklahoma, outside, while eating strawberry shortcake.

Love you sister and hope this week last forever. :)

Moving Week

Okay since this is packing/moving week for me (sigh, we can't even go to the "sad place"...I might not recover), I thought it might be fun to list our favorite places in OK and memories we have associated with that place...and GO!

love, No.2

**Frontier City--I can't help it.  As a kid,  I loved that place with its black top that smelled and burned your feet--through your shoes.   And the super expensive food and lame shows.  What wasn't there to like?!

**Don Pablos--I know random but I went there with Elisa when I was in middle school and it solidified my love of Mexican food...and love affair that I am afraid will NEVER die.

I have a few more but I want to see what you guys add...and then I'll add some more.

LOVE YOU!

I have surprises for you from Dallas.... the sooner you see me the sooner you get them. :) And tara your is not a surprise because you asked me to get it for you... oh well.
